Supportive Living Life Skills Coach

Life Skills Coach is an in-home one-on-one care-giving and mentoring position.
Positions in Grass Valley & Auburn:
- Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday & Wednesday evenings (5:30 – 11 pm)
*These positions are to assist an individual who uses a wheelchair. The position involves some personal care, using a Hoyer lift machine to assist with transfers, and meal prep/clean up.
Additional shifts available in Auburn

SLS Life Skills Coach
$21 – $22/hour depending on staff experience and specific client needs.
JOB DUTIES:
The Life Skills Coach does exactly that – coach adults on life skills. We work with adults with developmental disabilities who live independently and wish to be more independent. The Life Skills Coach (LSC) will assist the individual with learning daily skills such as menu planning, grocery shopping and cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and using public transportation. The LSC will assist the individual with medical and dental appointments. The focus for our service is to support the individual in living their best, most independent life. These are a few examples of the type of work you will be doing.
Other duties as needed; including but not limited to
- To provide in-home and community-based assistance to individuals according to individual service programs set up by them in coordination with Alta California Regional Center and New Start.
- To Teach and assist all individuals in the areas outlined in the individual service program.
- To document daily charting notes
- To report any issues and concerns regarding individuals served to New Start Case Manager.
- To attend in-service training sessions when offered – both remote and in person.
- To assist with special events when needed.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in caregiving, education, or working with people with disabilities.
HIRING CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must show evidence of a negative TB test & physical within the last year (or get one).
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint DOJ background check.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Ability to pass drug screen at the request of New Start.
- Must be able to work with people who have disabilities.
- Must have at least 1 year experience in caregiving, education, or working/volunteering with people with disabilities or equivalent education.
- Must provide a valid CPR & First Aid certification and be willing to maintain this certification.
