- Overnights:
- Saturday 11 pm to 8 am

The Life Skills Coach does exactly that – coach adults on life skills. We work with adults with developmental disabilities who live independently and wish to be more independent. The Life Skills Coach (LSC) will assist the client with learning daily skills such as menu planning, grocery shopping and cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and using public transportation. The LSC will assist the consumer with medical and dental appointments. The LSC will assist the consumer with transportation when working on individual service plan objectives and services. These are a few examples of the type of work you will be doing.
One client uses an electric wheelchair and requires personal care assistance. They have an electronic lift system to transfer between chairs and the bed. Both individuals like a positive attitude in their homes.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Experience in caregiving, education, or working with people with disabilities.
HIRING CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Possession and proof of a valid California Drivers License, vehicle insurance, a good driving record, and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment.
- Must show evidence of a negative TB test within the last year (or get one).
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check.
- Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
- Ability to pass drug screen at the request of New Start.
- Must be able to work with people who have disabilities.
- Must have at least 1 year experience in care-giving, education, or working/volunteering with people with disabilities or equivalent education
Salary depending on experience: $22.
