We have many open positions in the Yuba City area:

  • Yuba City
  • Mornings: 
    • Wednesdays 7 am to 3 pm
    • Saturdays 11 am to 3 pm (or 6 pm)
  • Evenings: 
    • Mondays 6 – 11 pm
    • Fridays 6 – 11 pm
    • Saturdays 6 – 11pm (or 3 – 11 pm?)
  • Overnights:
    • Tuesday & Thursday, Friday, Saturday 11 pm to 7 am
  • Temporary:
    • Thursdays 6:30 am to 2:30 pm
    • Fridays 7am to 3pm
  • Additional hours are available on-call in Yuba City, Colusa and Grass Valley

We are looking for an engaging and caring person to work with an adult with developmental disabilities. This will be a fun job assisting someone with menu planning, grocery shopping, cooking, volunteering, becoming active in the community, and other activities.

SLS Life Skills Coach

 JOB DESCRIPTION/DUTIES:

The Life Skills Coach does exactly that – coach adults on life skills.  We work with adults with developmental disabilities who live independently and wish to be more independent.  The Life Skills Coach (LSC) will assist the client with learning daily skills such as menu planning, grocery shopping and cooking, budgeting, cleaning, and using public transportation. The LSC will assist the consumer with medical and dental appointments. The LSC will assist the consumer with transportation when working on individual service plan objectives and services. These are a few examples of the type of work you will be doing.

Other duties as needed; including but not limited to

  1. To provide in-home and community based assistance to consumers according to individual service programs set up by Alta California Regional Center and New Start.
  2. To Teach and assist all consumers in the areas outlined in the individual service program.
  3. To document daily charting notes
  4. To report any issues and concerns regarding consumers to New Start Case Manager.
  5. To attend in-service training sessions when offered.
  6. To assist with special events when needed.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience in care-giving, education, or working with people with disabilities

HIRING CRITERIA AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 Possession and proof of a valid California Drivers License, vehicle insurance, a good driving record, and willingness to use personal vehicle in the course of employment.

  1. Must show evidence of a negative TB test within the last year (or get one).
  2. Must be able to pass a fingerprint background check.
  3. Must be able to speak, read, and write English.
  4. Ability to pass drug screen at the request of New Start.
  5. Must be able to work with people who have disabilities.
  6. Must have at least 1 year experience in care-giving, education, or working/volunteering with people with disabilities or equivalent education
